Now before you excoriate me for bashing Pinterest, Vine, and other mobile, social consumer apps, ask yourself if they are truly innovative? Have they brought new technology to the table? Has the human condition been improved? […] The ideas that are truly innovative are too raw or too bizarre or too challenging or too counter-intuitive. On the surface, they look ugly and unimpressive and down right idiotic. They do not conform to our perceptions of innovative and cool. They are pitched by quacks and weirdos and freaks. They are developed in nondescript labs out of the spotlight and beyond the mainstream. And they are certainly not on TechCrunch and other supposed forums of “disruptive technology”.

Why the Euro Is Doomed in 4 Steps

We’re going to need a bigger acronym.

In the beginning, it was just the “Greek debt crisis”. Then markets realized Portugal, Ireland, Italy, and Spain were in bad shape too, and the PIIGS (or GIIPS) were born. But now Cyprus and Slovenia have run into trouble as well, giving us the … SIC(K) PIGS? At this rate, we’re going to have to buy a vowel soon, assuming Estonia doesn’t end up needing a bailout.

The euro crisis is entering its fourth year, and, sorry world, this won’t be its last. Now, its long periods of boredom have gotten a bit longer, and its moments of sheer financial terror a bit less terrifying ever since the European Central Bank (ECB) promised to do “whatever it takes” to save the common currency. But, as Cyprus and Slovenia show, the battle for the euro isn’t over yet. Not even close.

The industry is essentially the same as it has been since 1990 (with phone calls between agents and promoters being replaced by email). That is why I’m so excited that we are using Detour to bring Indian Wells to London, for his first ever show outside of Italy. Via the community on Detour we raised 23 pledges to buy tickets – 23 people who stepped up and said ‘if you come, I’m in’, which is enough for us and our promoter partner to confirm a show, and bring him to London to the Shacklewell Arms. The show is at a weekend because it has to be around his day job in Italy. Tickets will go onsale 2pm Friday at https://detour-ldn.songkick.com/events.”

I think that selling is about authentically sharing with someone what you believe in, carefully listening to to what they believe in, and finding the places where those are in alignment.

Dreaming of naked teenagers with long hair laying in trees, endless summers, a mansion underwater, living in a rock at the riviera with sexy mermaids whispering: “We are getting it on and won’t leave before six in the morning!”? About time to treat yourself with Parasol’s latest Beachfreaks compilation -an anticipated new mix of hairy freaked-out psychedelic pop from the 1970s.

This mix was undusted and pieced together by Parasol Island’s creative director and hardcore collectore Charles Bals. Most of the obscure bondfire disco tracks came from ungoogleable vinyl singles, salvaged from the far reaches of a sunken Europe underground disco culture, and available through his online store Cosmic Dudes. So bring the banana lounge, shades and beach ball and follow us to the endless summer!
